About Us

Our Perspective

My name is Tyson, and I’ve spent much of my life in the roofing and construction industry, working across the Texas Panhandle, Lubbock, and Eastern New Mexico. Unfortunately, during that time, I’ve also seen firsthand how severe weather impacts our community — and how overwhelming the aftermath can be for families.

From inspections and assessments to navigating complex hail and wind claims, I’ve helped homeowners understand their options — restore their property to its original state or better — and avoid the pitfalls that often arise after every major storm.

That experience is the foundation of Before the Storm — preparation, clarity, and local expertise before the chaos begins.

Behind The Scenes

A bit about myself. I was born and raised in Amarillo, TX — and graduated from Randall High School in 2003. I grew up in a blue-collar family, where my father taught me roofing, and my grandfather taught me carpentry. Growing up, I developed a love for the sports of hockey and football. I still play to this day and am the co-founder of the West Texas Warriors — an all-veteran hockey team that aims to rebuild the camaraderie many veterans feel after leaving the military.

Before entering the roofing industry full-time, I served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps, deploying twice to Iraq in support of the CASEVAC mission — flying to and transporting injured troops to the hospital. In August of 2006, I survived a mortar attack in Iraq and was awarded the Purple Heart.

That experience shaped the way I see people, responsibility, and community. Today, I’m a father of three, raising my family here in Texas, and committed to doing work the right way — honestly, directly, and with my neighbors’ best interest in mind.

Outside of work and family life, I enjoy writing and have self-published a few books so far. As a veteran, I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel throughout the US as a volunteer hunting and fishing guide, and to spend time with veterans from all walks of life in British Columbia, Peru, and beyond, in an effort to improve their mental health.

Through these experiences, I have come to enjoy writing non-fiction books that truly bring people together.

The Panhandle is my home, too — and I take pride in helping my neighbors enter storm season with a plan.

A quick inspection today can save you stress and uncertainty when the weather turns.

The Marine Corps taught me to take care of my own.

Today, that means helping families across the Panhandle prepare beforehand and restore their homes if storms damage their property.

Why I Built 'Before the Storm'

I built Before the Storm because, after years in the roofing and storm-restoration world, I saw how much easier life becomes when homeowners have clarity before severe weather hits. In places like Amarillo, Lubbock, and the Panhandle as a whole, storms often provide little warning — and too many families face damage without a plan, unsure of whom to trust or how to navigate repairs. My goal is to provide homeowners with a documented baseline and a sense of control — so they’re not making rushed decisions in the midst of chaos.

I’m a roofer first, but I’ve also spent years developing highly skilled expertise in identifying and documenting the full scope of damage a roof or exterior has sustained. About seven years ago, I earned my Mastery Level 3 certification in Xactimate, the industry-standard third-party estimating platform. While I don’t interpret policy or speak for insurers, I am an expert in assessing property damage, developing accurate scopes within these systems, and advocating for appropriate repairs based on real-world conditions. When a storm hits, homeowners deserve someone who knows how to document the true scope — and stand by it.

Whether you simply need a pre-storm roof inspection or want help coordinating repairs after severe weather, I’m here as much or as little as you need. Before the Storm exists because preparation brings confidence, and confidence brings peace when the chaos of storm season lands on our doorstep.

My mission is simple: to protect your home, ease your mind, and provide you with a trusted local partner long before the storms arrive as quickly as spring does.
